I see where the town would be concerned about a rising death toll, but I think there are also a lot of people who would go up there just to pay homage to a man they can relate to, so I don't think anything should be done to stop people from going up there. I do, however, feel that many people think they have the same ideals and drive that Alex McCandless had, but they are fueled by the wrong reasons and don't really understand his journey. I think people would do things differently if they went out there looking for adventure, and would probably survive because of that, but I don't think they would have the experience that McCandless wanted. I really don't like the so-called 'copycats', but I don't think people should jump to conclusions when someone says they are going to retrace McCandless' steps.
