I actually thought of moving to dubai to play hockey (they need players/coaches for their new arenas) but now I think I wont.

I live in the UAE. And I will tell you there is so many things wrong in that article. First off most taxi's in dubai have GPS systems, they can nearly get you anywhere in dubai. About the heat, its hot but everything is A/C, and between october to about april the weather is actually very pleasant and nice. Things are cheaper here depends on what you want, I found produce in the local markets to be cheaper but depending on what part of the world it comes from. Coke is about $.30 a can. I will state starbucks and mcdonalds are about the same price as they are in the usa. In point 8 in her article about the cops, most of the cops are undercover they do it to keep low profile. The police system is pretty impressive in there response time and ability. point 13 about your boss approval, umm I dont know what she is talking about, one major point in the USA we have a credit reporting system, currently in the UAE they do not have one. So they have no idea about your credit history.

They are currently implementing a credit system and this will streamline alot of things. Regarding her next point the weekend issue. Nearly everyone takes Friday Saturday off, I have not had a single issue or confusion so I am not sure what she is talking about here. In point 16 she talks about the tv and sattellite offering, in reality its pretty good for overseas. Surprisingly most major television shows are only a few months behind then in the USA. Also there are 2 major players Showtime and Orbit and most offer up many shows and movies, and the movies they offer are all fairly recent. This is much better then in europe where most are further behind. She did make alot of issues about the environment, does she realize that 30years ago this was all desert, and it does not rain. The government has done alot in regards to the environment, they have farms and public parks with trees and grass. They have alot of enviromental initiaves and are doing alot for there local ecosystem.
