Dec. 31, 2006, 8:19 a.m.that was awesome... I have a few friends who vacation like this. One actually did the "Hey an applebee's" on me 4x during a trip down the coast... glad to know im not the only one who finds it disturbing as hell that people do that on vacation.

Dec. 31, 2006, 5:13 p.m.I don't get it. I did all those things (in the article) and had a great time. By the way, where do all those bridges go....do people live over there? What's that big green square in the middle of the Manhattan map? And that lady out there on that island, doesn't her arm ever get tired? I realized now that I got ripped off, cuz i paid $25 for a bagle with cream cheese. Didn't know the Carnegie had one for just $17.95. Silly me.
Seriously.....(difficult for me) The locals even showed me how to take the train and the subway in and out from JFK. Saved a ton of money and lots of time. Some people (African American) even helped me get my suitcase up the subway stairs...didn't even ask! I know lots of airline people who work there and they, too, know some cool places. Try lobster dinner (without drinks) in the village for $10 !!
I love N.Y.!

Dec. 31, 2006, 5:54 p.m.If you're going to visit New York that way, stay home.
Of course there are a lot of good neighborhoods uptown of the Park; this writer has a downtown bias.
For crying out loud at least get a copy of Time Out New Tork if you're going to go. It's a real starting place to find interesting things to do.

Dec. 31, 2006, 9:28 p.m.If you're coming into the city to see a show and you have a specific show you want to see in mind, try broadwaybox.com for discount tickets. There are very few shows that discounted tickets are not available for. Keep in mind, also, that broadway theatres are really quite small, so the balcony and the mezzanine usually are not a bad deal either. Usually WAY closer than orchestra seats in a local theatre.
Lucille's (B.B. King's restaurant) ALWAYS (at night) has a good blues band playing while you eat. Foods not too bad either -- southern home style cooking.
